“Words Are Not Enough”

I can hear the heart rending wail of a Mother bereaved
The life of her Son, cut short without explanation

Above the sound of a myriad voices, the cry from her being demands to be heard
Greater pain can never be borne, than to lose the child you have carried, nurtured and loved

To live out an unnatural sequence, is beyond understanding
She sees me now tending her Son, an aborted attempt to breathe life to his form

I can only imagine the canvas of her dreams
Why am I There?, What part did I play?

I offer prayers in mitigation;
I can’t offer solace, for once “There are no words”
