Whitchurch Waterways Country Park

Water voles thrive in this green oasis; protected, a
Haven to breed and quietly sit and nibble grasses
Inner sanctum of burrows for sleep. Water Mint and
Tendrils of Brooklime creep. Green rush wetland spurs
Cuckoo flower in spring. Paths lead on, weaving through
Herb-rich pasture of awakening butterflies and small
Umbels of pignut attract hoverflies and soldier beetles.
Rising woodland, a swathe of bluebells exuding a sense of
Calm. Green Woodpeckers probe ant hills in open glades, a
Heron freezes, eyes on Staggs Brook; visitors pass by.
