Waiting for Time

Young lovers met by the sundial.
Tracing the channelled dull metal
his fingers brushed her gloved hand.
Through the silk she felt the charge
her heart missing a beat of the clock.
Yet the falling shadow remained still.
A hint; that now was not the time to love.
