“Too Great a Share”

Once flourished thence to fade away; (my life)
In moments of advance, I’d seek withdraw
When e’er my stock didst soar, twud lead to strife
Now he who reached for stars doth reach no more
Content am I if day’s on even keel
No need to exercise such long held dreams
Success may breed success yet not appeal
To one who had it all midst fruitful schemes
Yet still I would retreat from pinnacle
Unworthy in my mind should I be ‘Blest’
When outcome proves the truth in miracle
However came about; (result unrest)
Alone with simple needs I now reside
Embarrassed by the gifts thou didst provide
