THROUGH THE EYES OF CHILDREN

Children see sunflowers
As Van Gogh intended
Bright full of life
Not static in a vase,
On a marble mantelpiece
But alive in the imagination
Standing tall in a sun-kissed,
Walled garden
Proud and majestic
Heads to the sky
Children see sunflowers
As Van Gogh painted
All shades of yellow and gold
And with their imagination
They recreate it, sprinkling it
With brown, orange and green
Against a backdrop
Of blue
