THIRTY ONE

Can I smile
Can I laugh until I cry
Can I remember
Remember everything
Because I don’t deserve this
Black holes in my mind
So many excuses I need to find
Just to fit in.

I don’t want to be lonely
But simple thoughts wont make me feel better
Disappearing after-thoughts
Will stay with me forever
While demons play
And angels stay away
Too scared to touch
A fragile soul they love so much.

Now thirty one
And still needing someone
To tell me its all ok
In that perfect way
To open up my stubborn heart
A small child waiting to start
To open up the world
And reach for a star
No matter how far.

Can I smile
Can I laugh until I cry
Can I remember who I am
Before I fade away
Into another day
