THE SOLDIER

FOREWARD ,ONWARD TO MEEET THE FOE

EVER BACKWARD WE LONG TO GO

GLINTS OF STEEL FLASH IN THE SUN

AND NOW THE COWARDS TURN TO RUN

ONLY THE BRAVE STAY ON TO FIGHT

THR’O THE DARKNESS OF THE NIGHT

THEN DAY WILL COME AND WE SHALL SEE

JUST HOW MANY STAYED ON WITH ME

I COULD NOT TURN AND RUN AWAY

BUT FOR MY COURAGE I WILL PAY

WITH BROKEN BODY,I LAY QUITE STILL

LOOKING YONDER O’R THE HILL

NO ONE CARES I COULD BE DEAD

I SIT AND TRY TO RAISE MY HEAD

THE SUN SHINES ON A BRAND NEW DAY

AT LEAST I DID NOT RUN AWAY
