The Eternal Drummer

Do you hear the drums a beating
From a far and distant shore,
Do you hear the drums a beating
Calling young men off to war,
Do you hear the drums a beating
Saying send me your very best,
Do you hear the drums a beating
As they lay them to their rest,
Do you hear the drums a beating
As they will for evermore,
Do you hear the drums a beating
As they will till we say no more,
Do you hear the drums a beating
As the Drummer passes by,
Do you hear the drums a beating,
See the Mothers tear filled eye,
Do you hear the drums a beating
Let us pass the final test,
You’ll hear no drums a beating
If we lay the Drummer to his rest.
