Soldier’s Wife

I sent my man out last night
I waved goodbye as he watched me cry
I don’t know when he’ll be back home but I sure hope that it’s soon

I sent my man out to fight
I don’t know why but he thinks it’s right
He thinks that it’s what he was born to do

And I know these nights will be long
And I know they’ll be hard for you
And I don’t mind saying I’ll probably shed a tear or two

I sent my man out last night
I sent him out to fight for his life
I don’t know when I’ll hear from him but I sure hope that it’s soon

I’m waiting for his words to fall
Like a prayer through my door
To let me know he’ll be on his way home soon

And I know these nights will be long
And I know they’ll be hard for you
And I don’t mind saying I’ll probably shed a tear or two

I sent my man out last night
I don’t know why he was born to fight
I only pray he was born to live long too
I sent my man out last night
I waved goodbye as he watched me cry
I hope that God will bring him safely home
To me soon
