SANCTUS MORTIS

by | Nov 22, 2009 | Poetry | 0 comments

The light is swiftly fleeting,
The dark is drawing near…
In the presence of thy keeping…
Assuage me of my fear.

With the dark descending,
My day’s work is done…
My short life is ending…
My Saviour, take me home.

Release me from mine anguish.
Comfort me with thy care….
Never more to languish…
In deep and dark despair.

With thy tender mercy,
And the love within thine heart…
Do not ever leave me…
Never to depart.

To thy gracious favour,
Bear me up above…
Show me my dear Saviour…
The fullness of thy love.

Once wearied and faint-hearted,
I lay unto thy breast…
In calm repose departed…
In eternal peaceful rest.

Amen
SANCTUS MORTIS…CUM PACALIS DIGNITATIS
