Persevere

I won’t concede to shadows of despair, falling across my mind,
I won’t be weak and let hate set in, one day sending me blind,
I will succeed in erasing the dark, triumph will be mine,
Only the light of experience will I allow to shine,

I’ll gain wisdom from truth as my past I unfold,
Making good what could have been, before I get too old,
I’m like a loop that never quite made a knot,
An incomplete life, a past best forgot,

Until the day comes that I see the light,
I’ll search my soul endlessly and not stop at night,
My life won’t be whole ‘till I end this self-test,
God give me strength to persevere in my quest
