“Le Tournoi”

Whence all good Men-at-Arms engaged in joust
Famed Hastilude doth lance and prance through time
No pacts where made so dark, by men like Faust
With Knights all shining armour in their prime
Chivalric code of conduct once held sway
Enlightened days when one didst stay thy sword
Life’s tournament where all wouldst enter fray
Played out betwixt and by thine own accord
Cloak’d steeds didst charge down lists in finery
Protagonists with spear vamplate of hand
In robes heraldic; billowed binary
The finest men in Christendom’s fair land
Perchance a Lady’s colours to uphold
Couldst we in fairness ever be so bold
