It’s not a game

Trying to weave these words, to create some kind of poem,
reminiscing of the late Great War poet, Wilfred Owen.

Yes the Wars are much different now, but the feelings remain the same,
the battlefield is a deadly place, this is real, it’s not a game.

The sweat, the blood, the courage and the sorrow,
today’s battle has been won, we will need to gain more ground tomorrow.

Knowing that our country is behind us, will make us go that extra mile,
but each day that finishes here, won’t bring a face to smile.
