GUARDIAN

A guardian angel walks beside me
And I am sure the he is you
For the very day you went away
It was then that in he flew

I did as we had promised
Walked that path and didn’t flinch
Because of him it wasn’t lonely
As I travelled on inch by inch

When it was finally over
I travelled though not alone
To reach that hallowed place
You always your called home

I gently held your mother
As I told her how you died
Then I had to hold her tightly
As her heart broke and she cried

I shared you Fathers whisky
And we drank into the night
As I told him how you saved me
In the deadliest of fights

Then in leaving had to tell them
Through eyes with tears blind
You would always travel with me
For we never leave a man behind
