Excited

Is it wrong to be excited when getting ready to go away?
I worry about my loved ones, but I know they’ll be okay,
I ponder what I’ll miss but I wonder what I’ll see,
And I know when I get back home, they’ll be there waiting for me.

Is it wrong to be excited when getting ready to go away?
I know I’ll miss my family, each and every day,
But it’s a new adventure in a new place,
I struggle to keep the excitement hidden from my face.

Is it wrong to be excited when getting ready to go away?
Is it the sense of danger that gets my thoughts to play?
The prospect of another medal to pin upon my chest?
Or just that I’ll be doing something different from everyone thats left?

Is it wrong to be excited when getting ready to go away?
Even if I knew the answer, I’m not sure I would say,
It’s the life I chose, and I have to go,
Should I be excited? Well that I just don’t know.
