Children aren’t encouraged
To use imagination.
Everything they do
Has to be prescribed;
Dictated by the experts
Who claim that they know best
About how to develop kids
To benefit society.
So children are like clones
Pushed into states of thinking,
Generally subdued,
Denied the right to choose,
Restricted in their knowledge;
And they are not encouraged
To find out for themselves
And think outside the box.
Then as they grow, nowhere to go,
They just stagnate and irritate
And then we’re all in shock
When it seems they have no soul.
But can we be surprised
When they’re stopped from being whole.
