Churchyard Refrain

Below aged Yew I’m cloaked in prayerful shade
Reclined on bench as hewn by man’s own hand
Whence reading words which shape my life as played
Still yet I ponder of existence planned
Lest I fulfil dared hope for me this day
In pretence of mine soulful cry from heart
Doth following thy path deem righteous way
Or should said teachings strive to set apart
If thou should deign to hear without reply
To turn thy thoughts away from selfish aim
Wouldst e’er such plea perchance to reach on high
In mitigation of this sinners shame
Thine answer lies within this book I hold
As turning pages, doth my life unfold
