Christmas Time of Yore

Oh for the Christmas time of yore,
To spend our holidays as they did before,
With friends and relations, all in one town,
They didn’t have to wait for the plane to touchdown.

Oh for the Christmas time of yore,
Gifts were handmade or bought from the corner store,
Back then their feet didn’t get so sore,
From shopping at malls where 50% off meant that they would pay more.

Oh for the Christmas time of yore,
When little gifts given, meant so much more,
In those days it was a scarf or a book of Noel,
Now it’s a computer, printer, scanner and CD’s as well.

Oh for the Christmas time of yore,
Out on their snow sleds, the children would soar,
And carollers sang from door to door,
But with television & computers that will be – nevermore.

Oh for the Christmas time of yore,
When their life was much simpler, and furthermore,
Their love for each other, from them would outpour,
Because they knew the true meaning of Christ Mass was not something to ignore.
