(Absent) Father’s Day

by | May 28, 2012 | Poetry | 0 comments

Every year on father’s day
I try to hide myself away
Whilst others have a day of fun
I’m left to be the lonely one
No happy father holding me
Happy as a dad should be
No card or present do I buy
Just me, alone, having a cry
Wishing once that I just had
The chance to hold and love my dad
But this I know will never be
My dad no longer cares for me
He doesn’t want to be with us
Control his anger or discuss
How we could be a family
And once again show love to me
