I stood in silence and cried
Cried in memory of those that have died
Died for a cause they said was just
Just because others said they must
Must go to war, whatever that war
War came a knocking at their door.

Off to battle in foreign lands
Fighting an army or terrorist bands
Bands of guerrillas who just want to kill
Kill the soldiers till all are still
Still in memories they’re not forgotten
Forgotten the cause! That may have been rotten.

Whatever the land, whatever the cause
They died for freedom in all those wars
Let the poppies grow wherever they lay
Let the petals fall on Remembrance Day
I stood in silence and cried
Cried in memory of those that have died.
