Within our hearts

One day, I visited two graves nearby,
Where heroes of the war would lie..

We offer our thanks to the fallen dead
So much blood has now been shed.
Within our hearts, there stirs such pride
In those, who with great courage died.
We honour you for all you gave
You’ve earned our gratitude and praise.
Forgiveness -belongs to those who suffer
Who’ve lost a cherished son or brother.
Every day they fight their battles too
Inspired by all they loved in you…

One day, I visited two graves nearby
Where heroes of the war would lie.
And, there, I paused to wonder why
Too often it’s the young who die..
