Winter Peace

Crystal Winter cascades blue grey skies
As cold winds sweep up autumn’s brown leaves
Then whistle through limbs of naked trees
Cleaning earth’s surface with a new broom.

Evergreens bow in supplication,
Curious snowdrops virgin white peep out
From bosom of warm Earth’s eiderdown
To be covered by pure white snows.

Biting frost nips at nose and fingers,
Crystal trees of frost star glass windows
These translucent, vibrant ice pictures
Transcends visions of beauty on earth.

As soft quiet settles on our fair lands,
Fear of impending war surfaces:
Hark! Our children’s future world now chimes,
Pray peace on earth and goodwill to all.
