We did what we were told
The ancient transcript read
They too would perish in their youth
Their precious blood thus shed
The cupreous leaves of autumn
To some may speak of death
To others -of the coming spring
The sweetness of Life’s breath
The landscape of a Winter scene
May seem, as if, a dream
Of what once was when we were young
Of what once might have been…
