Where Has it All Gone?

Where did the trust of children all go?
Will we ever again hear a child request.
“Please mister see me across the road?”
Hands clasped the old and the young boldly stride,
Trusting each other from one side to the other.
Where, oh where did that trust all go?
No One is to blame, we all allowed it so !

And where has all the gentleness gone?
The playground all filled, young voices trilling,
Their play is often of spacemen zapping and killing,
Kung Fu stances, kick boxing dances.
Where , oh where did the gentleness go?
No one is to blame we all allowed it so!

And where has all the caring gone?
Old people in fear, their purses get stolen,
By fleet footed youths who laugh as they run.
Where , oh where did the caring all go?
No one is to blame we all allowed it so!

And where has the respect for others gone ?
Middle aged men break in, smash homes,
Beat up, and steal from old ladies.
Where, oh where did the respect all go?
No One is to blame we all allowed it so!!
