Weekend shirt

By 24th October 2008December 9th, 2019No Comments

The name we gave our polo shirts, would really make you smile

We never had to wash them, till they’d done a thousand mile

We used them for our weekend leave to near or even far

We used them when we travelled on leave, by train or even car

The tannoy used to broadcast a voice that used to say

Liberty men to muster, by the forward port gangway

This favourite shirt, a pair of slacks with clean and shiny shoes

Happy jack would wander off, to dispel those weekday blues

Weekend leave was also known as a Friday Whiler

The shirt of course it was known as a THOUSAND MILER
