War and Heart

Men have signed up to take part
But families don’t want to be split apart
The war is soon going to start
And families and friends will be in soldier’s minds
And hearts

Men, now soldiers soon to depart
Leaving family for war is no walk in the park
On their way to battle, what’s in their minds as they march?
The feeling of fear in their stomachs
And hearts

Bombs, blow the ground under feet apart
Shrapnel flew through the sky like a dart
No soldier was left unscarred
On their bodies, in their minds, in their heads
Or their hearts

Family members gone to fight hard
War went on, until four long years passed
Even long after war people are still left scarred
Lost souls and millions of lives torn apart
Including many people’s hearts
