Updating Shakespeare

Sixteenth Century English,
Although it often rhymes,
Is like a foreign language
When read in present times.
If we are to enjoy the plays
We should produce remakes.
We could rewrite, “What light
Through yonder window breaks?”
Into modern language
Which everyone can follow.
So Romeo could simply ask,
“Who broke the window?”
