Truth or Dare

With eyes half closed, I drift away through time
Along known roads which take me far from home
Familiar sights I glimpse midst upward climb
Reminders of the path I chanced to roam
Whilst looking back, I ponder choices made
How influenced was I by friends and peers
Pray was it all in truth ‘one big charade’
Played out ‘twixt love and loss of passing years
Or was existence ours to ‘shape and form’
To reach within for inspiration held
In lifting of ourselves above the norm’
When aspirations soared, forsooth, propelled
Partake of vantage point ‘in wisdom shared’
Wouldst I have reached my goal ‘if I’d not dared’
