The old man and the sea

by | Oct 5, 2009 | Poetry | 0 comments

The old man was found on a beach
staring blankly out to sea,

his forgetful memory trying
to retrace his sailor days

when he journeyed the oceans
with the carefree ambience
of youthfulness,

and remembered the vibrant
deliciousness of yesterday.

The sea he knew was a
sparkling blanket of
emerald jewels

but now here he stood,
dawn approaching
before a cold unfamiliar foe
that ceaselessly swept his memories

away with the sand.
