The Great Escape’ (from home) ‘D-Day’

Flotilla forms as if twere long ago
‘The Longest Day’ as dubb’d by Hollywood
Yet faces say twas real and not some show
Held memories still linger (as they should)
As Normandy doth beckon o’er the sea
I’d formulate a plan twud help me reach
With nonchalance I’ll dress and then to flee
My target set; alight upon the beach
The time has come to pay all due respect
To those who paid the price for freedom’s choice
As sun goes down, once more I shall reflect
On friends who did not share in our rejoice
Couldst I in conscience stay upon known shore
Residing in this land they’ll see no more
