The first evening star

The first evening star in the heavens to shine

Represents your granddad that old love of mine

And when you hear thunder crashing way overhead

Yes that’s him, your granddad falling right out of bed

On birthdays a message in a glass bottle we save

We cast it with love caught by each passing wave

We keep to our selves our thoughts and our fears

We spend time alone and then feel the tears

As gently the tears run and fall down the face

Fond thoughts through the brain gazing wide into space

Time now passes slowly and not without pain

Eventually I know we will be together again

Until that time comes determined I’ll be

To carry on bravely so you’ll be so proud of me
