The first day of Spring

There’s one defining moment
With a gun against your head
Where you realize in an instance
That you will soon be dead

You think about the mission
And what has brought you here
And you think about your family
And it helps to calm the fear

In honor there is victory
Even in your own defeat
I lead the charge of freedom
For which there is no retreat

Remember why I came here
And know my cause is just
And know I fought until the end
To help preserve your trust
