1

BUT ON THE HILLS OF TURKY
THERE IS A PLACE CALLED SALT LAKE
WHERE OUR LADS FOUGHT AND FELL
WHILE THE HILLS WE TRIED TO TAKE

2

THE NAVY DID THEIR BEST
WITH THE HELP OF BRITISH GUNS
AND KEPT THE TURKS AT BAY
WHILE THEY ALSO WATCHED THE HUNS

3

THE 11TH DIVISION WERE THERE
FIGHTING AROUND CHOCOLLATE HILL
TRYING TO STRIKE FOR FREEDOM
WITH THE HELP OF A CONSTANT WILL

4

FIVE MONTHS THEY TRIED THEIR BEST
TO FIGHT A CROS SUVLA BAY
BUT JOHNNY TURK SAID NO
YOU MUST GO THE OTHER WAY

5

ACHI BABER STOOD FIRM
WHILE THE NARROWS WE TRIED TO GET
AND THE 29TH DIVISION
PAID THEIR LITTLE DEPT

6

WE COULD NOT FORCE THE NARROWS
OR MOVE AT SUVLA BAY
SO EARLY ONE DARK NIGHT
WE BEGAN TO RUN AWAY

7

WE LEFT ALL OUR TRENCHES
THOSE WE HAD DUG SO WELL
WE ALSO LEFT THE COUNTRY
WHERE ALL OUR LADS HAD FELL

8

SITTING IN THE BOATS
WE CALMY SAILED AWAY
LEAVING GALLIPOLE
LEAVING SUVLA BAY

9

WE SAID GOOD BY TO TURKEY
JUST BEFORE CHRISTMAS DAY
FOR THE DARDENELLES WAS A FAILURE
THAT’S WHAT THE M.PS SAYS
