The Crazy Moneymen

No one could fail to have noticed
As it was broadcast in pictures and sound
The money markets were in trouble
Causing a run on the pound

They sat there in front of their computers
Boasting of the money they’d made
By buying the mighty deutsch mark
Oh what a profitable trade

The headlines were full of their antics
But I only wondered why
The money men have to wear braces?
Why don’t they give belts a try?

At least a belt can be tightened
To see them through poorer times
But perhaps they are onto a winner
Maybe losing would be a crime

So here is the heart of the problem
Million upon million they might make
But does it solve the world’s famine
Or put food on the poor mans plate
