The Abandoned Soldier

With resolve, but despair and the track of a tear,
Proud and bereft, the soldier is left
To fend on his own now that he’s come home.
We exposed him to terror and from the horror
His new tomorrow exposes our error;
So few of us dare to acknowledge he’s there.
