Tears we cannot hide

On this Remembrance Monday,
The years have come and gone
A million men have fallen,
But still they soldier on.

Young men left their mothers
Husbands left their wives
Marching on forever
They sacrificed their lives.

In foreign fields and trenches
As men and boys they lay,
Fighting for the freedom
That we enjoy today.

Rows and rows of tombstones
As far as the eye can see
They all laid down their lives
For the sake of you and me

They didn’t die in vain
Those brave young men of ours,
Some of them still slumber
Beneath the Flanders flowers.

Now as we remember
How they fought and died
We thank God for their sacrifice
With tears we cannot hide
