STICKS AND STONES

by | Jul 30, 2007 | Poetry | 0 comments

Sticks and stones may break my bones,
And certain names will hurt me…
Like; nigger, sambo, wog and coon…
Rubber lips, spring head and quadroon.
Half caste, dead match head and blackie…
Golliwog, monkey man and darkie.
Midnight, marmite, gorilla and charcoal…
Half-breed, Mandingo and mulatto.
Kunte Kinte, Chicken George and Uncle Tom…
Jungle Boy (and his bongo drum).

So be careful with your stones and sticks…
And don’t hurt me just to get your kicks.
