Sixes and Sevens

I want to ask you
So many things
The price of cheese
And diamond rings

What are they selling
In the shops?
Do you use drinking water
To wash your socks?

Does the sand get everywhere
Remember North Pier?
Do you dream at night
Of pints of beer?

Do you see the same stars
When you look at the heavens?
Or are they all mixed up
At sixes and sevens?

But my fingers hover
Above the keys
Like a Harrier Jump Jet
On the breeze

Then they land and type
‘You okay?’
Other questions can wait
For another day.
