“Silent Night: An Afghan Parody”

Silent night, holy night,

But for troops at war there is no respite.

No Christmas at home with all the good cheer,
no warm house with family and nothing to fear.
No chance of sleeping in peace,
no chance of sleeping in peace.

Silent night, holy night,

The enemy want to continue the fight.
My radio crackles and bursts with noise;
insurgents were waiting, they’re after our boys.
No chance of sleeping in peace,
no chance of sleeping in peace.

Silent night, holy night,

I rush to help with my comrades’ plight.
The foe are aware that it’s a special morning,
they’ve launched attacks without any warning.
No chance of sleeping in peace,
no chance of sleeping in peace.

Silent night, holy night,
The day is breaking, the sun is bright,
Across the desert quietness descends.
The fighters withdraw and the combat ends.
Time to sleep in peace,
Sleep in exhausted peace…
