Silence is Golden

As I watched in horror
gasped in despair
watched in amazement
trying not to glare

The petals dropped hundreds at a time
as the soldiers stood line upon line
they acted like a human, solid brick wall
they said nothing…And nothing said it all

Everyone paid their tributes and respects
everyone smart and looking their best
I looked at the wall and what did I see?
I saw a poppy looking at me.

Forget-me-nots don’t help you remember things like this
it’s a poppy you need and a poppy you’ll get!
They’re not just flowers they’re something much more
They’re the soldiers that died in the wars.

Silence is golden at times like this
It helps you remember the people you miss
If you’ve lost someone so close
remember the people you love the most.

People you know,
People who care,
People who will always be there
