Silence In Battle

There was a lull in the battle

A silence of perfect peace

The sounds of continues gunfire

For a moment it did cease

In that brief silence

His thoughts were of home

His family and children

As he sat in his trench alone

Will he ever see them again?

Will he survive this war?

Has he the strength to carry on

Or will he fight no more

His thoughts were interrupted

For the silence was but brief

The soldier commenced his battle

To fight for everlasting peace
