Side by Side They lie in peace now

Across the English sea
Lie the brave and true.

White granite as their duvet
Dark earth as their bed
They fell upon the field of war
No soft pillow; for their head.

Blanketed was the world
In its stricken grief
As the death toll rose and rose
Future’s stolen; war its blatant thief.
