Separation

Our love holds us in so many ways
Through our lonely nights and days
The single meal taken alone
Should be a banquet with you
The solitary drink quietly taken
That should be a party for two
Coming home to an echoing empty place
No greeting smile from your welcoming face
Though globally we are miles apart
I carry you always in my heart
