See You Later Dave

A soldier was his chosen trade
There were many guns he fired
He’s gone away but not to fade
Dave Mansfields just retired

We had some fun and laughs with you
You were the life and soul
And now your party’s over
it feels a little cold

Fear not up there we’ll see you soon
We’ll come up for a visit
We’ll have a beer or two with you
And your mate the Holy Spirit

For those of us who stay down here
Don’t be sad and tearful
Cos if Dave himself were here today
He’d want us loud and cheerful
