SAVAGE PEACE

Theirs was a war to end all wars
a land fit for heroes was the cry;
And for their comrades in arms
the man on the left, and the man
on the right were prepared to die!

But raising its ugly head appeared
a savage peace,
And from bitter conflicts there was
to be no release-
For the killing fields have run their
rivers of red,
And on the fields of pain thousands
of lives have been shed.

And from the years of the great wars
were no lessons ever learned?
For man to live in harmony a savage
peace has spurned.
And when God looks down on the creation
he began,
Does he weep the bitter tears for man’s
inhumanity to his fellow man…?
