Recruitment drive

Let’s recruit the homeless and get him off the street
Give him a uniform and decent boots for his feet
He will have a purpose and a sense of pride
I am sure he will be able to take it all in his stride

Two tours in Iraq and three in Afghanistan
Soon turned the boy into a man
He had never had real friends before
But he never got used to seeing them die in war

Back outside with plenty of time to think
Soon caused him to turn to drink
Unable to settle he returned to the street
At least this time he has good boots on his feet
