Per Cushioned Cloud

Our ‘Drummer Boy’ hears call of own ‘Last Post’
As flags throughout the land doth fly half mast
A nation mourns yet tries to raise a toast
For one whose life enjoins with heroes past
His heart no longer beats with pride, alone
Now tuned with comrades whom hath paid the price
Will ‘Sacrifice’ lead others to atone
Or will they once again deny ‘Him’ thrice
Within the realm of Queen (Gave ‘legiance to)
In peaceful thought did venture forth that day
No fear had entered mind (What may ensue)
As fate was cloak’d in shadowed shades of grey
Tho’ now bereft, all loved one’s overcome
May glimpse ‘His’ light at setting of the Sun
