Past me best

I’m no longer young
I’ve gone past me best
I’m wearing me thermals
And an old string vest

I need to be warm
But just feel the cold
Is this how it is
When you’re haggard and old

I’m covered in blankets
Coz I’ve got a chill
And it saves on the lecky
When I get the bill

I’ve tea and a crust
It’s just not enough
To fill up your belly
When life gets tough

Sat here in my chair
Looking tired and beat
Without any socks
To warm up my feet

My life light’s gone out
My body’s at rest
Well I told you before
That I’m past me best.
