‘Our’ Bridge (So far)

At night the sight fair takes your breath away
Tis ‘Albert’s Bridge’ as titled long ago
Tho oft repaired (resulting from survey)
Fragility creates its own tableau
A tremble was detected ‘twixt four piers
When overuse did take its toll (both ends)
With redesign approved; allay’d held fears
As chains replaced old rods where deck suspends
Yet still a notice warns that troops ‘break step’
For marching o’er its span adds resonance
Corrosive wear as spread by dogs named ‘Shep’
Could spell the end of said pre-eminence
Frequented now by stars of ‘Silver Screen’
Twas rumoured Albert’s ghost, here kissed his Queen
