He flew across the stage in leaps and bounds
Performed ‘En Pointe’ a feat so rarely seen
Interpreting through dance, composers sounds
Remarked upon as “Greatest ever been”
Aged nine he joined the Ballet world’s elite
No ‘Corps de ballet’ hopes would he convey
With ‘Principals’ engaged he could compete
Became the leading dancer of his day
When ‘Ballet Russe’ hath formed a company
Diaghilev wouldst fancy him for role
In ‘Gay Paris’ displayed ability
Arrondissements for him became the whole
Then malady of madness didst befall
Forever to perform midst sad recall
